Inaugurating the first school in the Jauaperi river

On July 1st, a milestone moment unfolded along the Jauaperi River as the first school in our crucial Educational Project officially opened its doors. This project, dedicated to reinstating and securing access to basic education for Amazonian children, celebrated its first success in the village of Bela Vista. The entire community gathered inside the new school to participate in the ceremony, joined by Francisco, representing the CoopXixuaú, and, of course, the children who eagerly took their seats as ACT Trustee Emanuela Evangelista led the event. She warmly welcomed everyone and invited the president of the Bela Vista community, Mr. Carlos, to open with a speech. His words, filled with gratitude and emotion, resonated deeply with everyone present. He specifically recognized the immense contributions of CoopXixuaú, the organization responsible for coordinating the building process.

Throughout the history of the community [that I founded], at no time was the community considered worthy of hosting a school. We demanded a lot from the government, but they never built a school. You saw our needs from afar. So thank you all very much.” (Mr Carlos, Bela Vista community president)

Mr. Carlos’ heartfelt words serve as a powerful reminder of the community's journey and resilience. This project was not without its challenges; the worst drought in Amazonian history hindered the rebuilding process and slowed progress. We echo Mr. Carlos’ sentiments and acknowledge that this achievement was only possible due to the support of several donors and organizations in restoring education to villages like Bela Vista.
